China says enterprise ties with Iran no hurt to another nation

BEIJING (Reuters) – China’s enterprise and power ties with Iran don’t hurt the pursuits of another nation, the nation’s Foreign Ministry stated, after U.S. President Donald Trump stated corporations doing enterprise with Iran could be barred from the United States.

China has already defended its industrial relations with Iran as open and clear as U.S. sanctions on Iran took impact regardless of pleas from Washington’s allies.

In an announcement launched late on Friday, China’s international ministry reiterated its opposition to unilateral sanctions and “long-armed jurisdiction”.

“For a very long time, China and Iran have had open, clear and regular industrial cooperation within the fields of enterprise, commerce and power, which is cheap, honest and lawful,” it stated.

“This doesn’t violate United Nations Security Council resolutions or China’s promised worldwide obligations, nor does it hurt the pursuits of another nation, and must be revered and guarded,” the ministry added.

Using sanctions on the slightest pretext or to threaten anybody gained’t resolve the issue, it stated.

“Only dialogue and negotiations are the true path to resolving the problem,” the ministry added.
